We have always had chickens on the farm. I have to say the roosters that I have met were not the protective leaders they are made out to be, but rather the first to run and hide in the face of trouble and the first to grab the best food. I have never liked the real roosters so decided to create one just as or more beautiful who could not torment or rape the hens.
Also years ago I was given a lucky rooster for my kitchen from Portugal so there must be good roosters!
