Son Barrina S.L. - About Us

About us

Brendan and Connie acquired the care of Finca Son Barrina in 1997, and made the harvest of organic food for their family the main focus of their work. This extended into 15 years of Mallorca’s largest organic shop, which closed in 2016.

During this time and since, the farm has hosted many community-minded events such as a children’s gardening club as well as scores of courses taught by international celebrities in permaculture such as Daren Doherty, Rosemary Morrow, Robina McCurdy, Brock Goldman, Robin Clayfield, Eugeniol Gras, Alfred Decker and Keith Robertson.

Additionally, Son Barrina has had the honour of working with local teachers such as Julio Cantos Gazques, Jesus Ruiz Gamez of Keyline, and Josep Pamies. We gave space to many pioneers for their first projects, including the first biochar made in Mallorca by Eddie Brown.

The “Permaculture Circles' ' demonstration site was started by Julio Cantos in 2010, there is a section of the farm given to the JEPS (Jovenes en Permacultura), and we hosted our first Erasmus volunteers in 2022.

Since the closure of the shop, we have pursued our creative interests. Connie works with glass and Bren loves to upcycle and recycle all things wood.
